is a graphics card warranted

It's reasonable, but you need to say what res you play at and the rest of your system specs?

You won't be able to play at high or ultra settings at a decent res.

Nah you're fine. I play it at 1440p with that card and a 2500k. On high with no AA of course, and the card is clocked to 950/1200. Juice that sucker and start saving for a 2gb 7xxx card

yeah he will as long its not a stupid res ;)

what make/model is the psu? if its a cheap/no brand 1kw then change it, if its corsair etc then wtf did you go for 1kw(could have got a 650/750 and spent the money saved on a 5870)?

If your happy to disable some bells and whistels and perhaps drop your res you'll have nice playable framerates. Newer cards will offer more performance but if it's worth it or not going from a 58xx is debatable, a lot of threads ask this. What's your experience so far?

well I've got a i7 920 with the 5850 and a sli capable mobo but i've also got an i7 930 also with a 5850 but the mobo will only run one card ... so far I haven't had any problems running anything although I'm playing fear 3 at the moment and it's a little jittery ...
My thoughts way back were if the 5850 was getting slow I could sli and get a single card upgrade for the other system.
