After 2 years of trusty usage my Logitech media mouse is beginning to wear out :(

Have replaced it with a logitech G7 :D ( my choice so no slating the mouse )

I haven't used a mouse mat for 2+ years , just rested straight on my Argos desk.

If a mat will be beneficial to this mouse , can anyone recommend one ?

I usually spend a lot of time late night gaming , in the dark ( hence my Saitek eclipse keyboard ) so the mat would need to be illuminated ( Blue ) around the edges.

Any suggests.

Thanks, as always.

Mark

I've got a G7 and never bothered with a mousemat for years (since I last had a mouse with a ball), I'm not what you'd call a hardcore gamer but I really don't think you need one and certainly not an illuminated one, it is accurate enough that you can just do it by feel rather than relying on the mousemat for positioning. :)

Yep, to echo the above, I am using an MX610, on a wooden desk, and it works fine.

I am not a "hard core gamer" though, so maybe if you require that extra 5 percent it may help ?

Never used a mouse mat with my MX518. I just cant use them, they annoy me. I dont see why one is needed with an optical mouse. Nice smooth desk has been fine with me :D

Oddly enough, I found the same thing recently with mats, they are annoying, especially now I am not used to them.

Its almost as weird as looking at my friends 19" TFT 5:4 screen after I am used to my wide screens. takes me a few seconds to adjust especially when playing games lol.

G7 = Amazing mouse!

Whats there bad to say about it?

Most people seem to pick on the fact that the battery packs don't last hugely long in comparison to some even though they last long enough for most uses and you can charge the packs in a couple of hours using boost mode. :)

Desk for the win!!..... unless you buy a large sized mat, its just too restrictive if you don't use the 'super duper' sensitivity.

I play games, and i like to sometimes be able to move that little bit more, if i was on the edge of the mousemat, chances are i'd screw up and 'boom headshot' i'm dead..... lol.....

Not using a G7 but i have used a G5 on this desk to (when i lan with buddie) and it works the same on the desk, a book, a piece of paper, of whatever else is a big enough surface area.

Cheers for all the replies :D

My Argos desk wins !!

Thanks,

Mark

( And yes, "the no slating of my choice" did refer to the power packs. But changing them evey other day or even every day hardly seems a problem to me )

Personally I always use a mousemat. I have a MX518 with a Steelpad 5L, works really well.

It's all preference and as you haven't used one in a while, why change?
