yeah i understand ,i was looking at the Office MAX 45 package too,and 45 Gb is loads of films and t.v episodes right ? with someone like me on my own .. ;) lol
It's quite a few, but you'd be better off using download scheduling to download things overnight - 300Gb is a huge chunk. Even with 4 of us we only make a 100Gb dent in it at the max.

Things like Azureus have Scheduler plugins, and RSS feeds that allow things such as TV to download as they're released (which, more often than not, is in the middle of the night)

good idea ;) think u sold me it !

On that test thing, I get:

IP profile for your line is - 7150 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1654 kbps

Does this mean I should be able to get my internet to go a fair bit faster? I'm on Plusnet's Broadband Premium Option 1

Yes - that's atrocious!

The limit is usually on BT's network, but in your case it's not - BT is allowing IP throughput at 7.1Mb, which is as fast as ADSL goes.

The problem obviously lies with Plusnet, who aren't reknowned for being brilliant. Either they've got a throttle on your line for some reason, or they're just... crap. I'd raise a ticket with them if I were you - you should be getting downloads in excess of the 600kB/s mark most of the time (going to a theoretical max of 893kB/s, but I've never seen an BTw ADSL connection give that speed!) - and I bet you're not getting close!

Moved from Nildram to Zen and so far rather happy with my connection.

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 7150 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 6083 kbps

From what i recall, ever since Pipex took over Nildram my connection started to go pear shaped :( Increase in packet loss to DE/NL gaming servers and general erratic download speeds.

http://speedtester.bt.com/

what does it say when you run it
Do you have to be a BT customer to run that speed test, only when I try all i get is this:-

Unexpected result received when querying the network to find your services connection details. Please try again shortly, but if this problem persists raise the issue with your service provider.
