Is a second 360 excessive?

As the price of the 360 has dropped I was wonder what peoples opinions were for picking up a arcade for my other room.

Does anyone have 2 Xboxes?
Do you find that they are both used frequently?
Finally, does the new arcade have HDMI?

I dont really see why you'd need one

Yes the arcades now have HDMI afaik.

Could you not just buy some spare cables and move the 360 when you want to use it elsewhere?

I have 2. One of them doesn't work though, it is being sent to MS this week. Not sure what I will do when I get it back, might just set it up in the bedroom for when my GF is reading in bed, I won't get in so much trouble for being on the 360 if I am next to her.

I have 2, one for use on my PC's monitor, and one in the living room along with the PS3 and Wii.

Living room one gets used more, but the second one can come in handy for when the GF is watching crap on TV :p

Of course it's excessive. No real reason to have two at all. The fact you're asking here says to me you know it's over the to - looking for reasons to justify it as you have none of your own! :)

Why isn't one enough? Save your money or buy something you don't have.

Why do you want two? Is it so that you can play in different rooms or so that you can have mates play on the other etc?

If it's just so you can play in different rooms then do what I did and but a second power brick and TV cable - then you just need to carry your 360 between TV's and plug straight in... easy!

That would quickly become tedious to the point that you wouldn't bother, IMO anyway.

takes seconds! I do that, far more sensible than spending over £100 to save yourself 30 seconds work.

Doesn't take 30 seconds if you're already in the other room, want to play, and then find that you've got to wander off downstairs and reach into the TV unit to unplug the 360 (and of course ejecting the disc that was already in, because that would be dangerous moving the console with a disc in it). Repeat numerous times, and like I was saying... ;)

Ideally, having separate consoles is better than sharing 1 between different rooms, but only if you don't see spending the money as an issue. For some its an option that works well, for others obviously they prefer not to bother.

Only problem I see with your, rather lazy, way of doing it is that you have to transfer your save game files between consoles if you want to carry on with a game, unless you only play certain games on each... anyway, that seems excessive, lazy and rather odd to me!

[EDIT] LOL, just seen your user profile and I guess you admit to being lazy anyway! :p

I have a spare power brick and scart lead, in my bedroom. makes it very easy if someone else wants to watch something else on telly i can simply pop the cables out the back pick up the xbox and take it up stairs.

Bought 4 wirless controllers so I can have two downstairs and two upstairs.

Cant see the point in buying a whole new 360 just to have one in a different room. would be good for when other people come round but apart from that...

If you want another console in the other room, why dont you pick something cheap up off the bay, I use to have my old megadrive and N64 hooked up to my old telly, was great.

I think the day to get two is when they're on their way out and available for £50 or something. You'll be able to carry on playing your games for another few years then.

That is exactly why I am asking.

The reasons that I have at the moment are that I would get a newer model with HDMI and improved reliability (apparently) and, hopefully, a quieter drive as well as not having to move the console when I want to play in the bedroom or when my girlfriend is watching tv.

I have 2 TVs that are barely used at the same time and they both cost more than a 360 so I can kind of justify it that way :p

I honestly never thought about picking up an extra power brick however (dumb***)

Fair enough, each to their own. I don't see how given the choice it would be less preferable though. I have the means to do it without thinking of it as excessive, lazy or odd. For me it's just a case of making sense.

And transferring saves isn't really an issue, for me at least.

Edit - just to make something clear, its not like I bought 2 360's at once purely in order to do this. I had one for a long time, it's just that for various reasons I bought another, and so having them in different rooms made sense.

Yours is working at the moment, right? Pretty good reliability to me. Who's to say your current one won't outlast the new one you're thinking about getting? :)

Its been fixed twice and has frozen up a couple of times recently. (Might be Bully's fault however)

Again, that is something I have thought about, the consoles will be cheap from now on so even if my old one decides to die on me I can get a new one at that time rather than now.

I am swaying more towards just picking up a power brick, but I am very lazy :p
