Yeah acetone's OK. I still prefer isopropyl alcohol though; it's much less dense and seems to be a little 'cleaner' (pardon the pun). That said acetone is perfectly adequate.

Yeah, 'lint' just means loose fibres (cotton wool is very linty). Personally I just bought a pack of lint free wound gauze from the pharmacy when I got the alcohol. I think it was 20p for a pack of 5 ;)

Ah right cool i ask when i go bk in there then :D i got Q tips as well but was not sure if i need a cloth to finish the job :)

Noooo, don't use cotton buds  As I said, cotton wool is about the most lint-filled product you can get lol You'll end up with macroscopic hairs and fibres all over your nice shiny heatsink and CPU. Just use the gauze or similar, it's all you need.

Either buy the small packs of pre-cut squares, or cut a suitably sized piece off a larger section. Fold over, apply to the top of the alcohol/acetone bottle, and wet the cloth/gauze. Then wipe the HS and CPU clean. Done.
