Hi guys I'm ordering a low budget build in two weeks.

Monitor bought Acer S243hl - £50

Graphics card bought off mate, its an old card ATI 5850 - £35

Then I will be buying this lot when I get paid:

AMD FX 6300 - £78

MSI 970A G46 - £53

Corsair modular 500W Bronze PSU - £43

Arctic cooling freezer 7 - £16

WD 1TB Caviar Blue - £40

Cit Vantage case Inc. 4 fans - £35

Hyperx black 4gb 1600Mhz - £30

Total: £300

Adding another 4gb ram when I've got funds.

So how does this spec fair up? I'm hoping it will be able to play the latest games at med/high settings at decent frames.

Motherboard has no VRM cooling and although your CPU has a TPD of 95w I'd be reluctant to use it, especially if you're considering overclocking. Plenty of evidence on Google of it overheating here

There are better budget heatsinks too. The one linked below is a good choice. You're right to get one though as the OEM cooler is both loud and crap.

That case is a bit marmite but will do the job. I'd want one with front USB 3 if it was me.

Hard drive is a good choice.

I'd consider getting quicker memory of you can, although the stuff you've selected ok.

Power supply is ok, I've got a hard-on for Superflower units though - awesome quality for the money although admittedly the one linked isn't modular

YOUR BASKET
1 x Gigabyte 970A-DS3P AMD 970A (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard £50.99
1 x SuperFlower Amazon 550W "80 Plus Bronze" Power Supply £49.99
1 x Raijintek Themis Direct Contact CPU Cooler £19.99
Total : £130.57 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Hi thanks for your input, I did consider that motherboard but I was really put off by the 1 star reviews on a certain retailer.

What is the difference between the CPU coolers?

The arctic freezer is certainly better than the OEM cooler, but the one I've linked is very good for the price offering better cooling and superior build quality. Whichever AMD motherboard you do choose make sure it has decent VRM cooling

I have changed the mobo for the one you have suggested, thanks for the heads up on the msi board.

I'm going to leave everything else as it is though I'm pretty sure the build will be fine like this.
