seen that but they didnt comment on noise, I ended up ordering the 2600X anyway as I budgeted £170 for the chip and with the game its £165. £ for performance I know its worser value than the 2600, but in recent years I have been a big loser on silicon lotteries so the guaranteed higher performance I will take this time round.
Well is some weird payment decline issues which now probably wont be resolved until OCUK staff are back at work tomorrow (amazon pay show payment has processed, OCUK email said declined and order has gone POOF in the meantime), so I guess with the order in limbo the 2600X could change to a 2600, I will see.
You get more than just the cooler by going to an X version. While you can manually OC the non-x version you're doing it across all cores so maybe limited in how far you can push things due to thermals, the X series use automatic per core OC'ing so in theory if you only loaded 3 cores those cores could clock higher than a manual OC on all 6 cores because the thermal load would be lower.
Yeah I ended up just going for the X version as I consider it is likely binned so it can hit those clocks at reasonable temps and voltage, whilst a 2600 user may have to apply more aggressive voltage to get there. With this chip I just want to leave the automatic overclocking to do its thing as so many people have reported how good it is for zen+.
