This is Ben Aaronovich's latest entry in his Rivers of London series, just published. I found the last one, False Value, plain bad, so I am somewhat leery this time around. Have you read it? What did you think of it?

And the novella about Abigail was even worse.

I only got up to the 5th one and haven't really felt like going further. Iirc I found the first book really good and interesting and was less invested in each subsequent one unfortunately.

I was delighted by the first three. The October Man, False Value, and What Abigail did... are very poor IMHO. Lies Sleeping was a return to form.

I surrendered and purchased the Waterstones special edition. It's decent - far better than False Value - but splits its time between police investigation and home life. The entire latter could be easily excised. It will likely improve on a re-read.

BTW the title is

a Monty Python joke and gives the game away big time.

I am of an age where I recognised it before the book arrived but it was interesting to see them work it all out.
