Is an Apple Warranty Transferable?

Was thinking of selling my MacBook Pro and obviously warranty plays a considerably big role in that.

I know people have sold their machines with AppleCare before but does the manufacturer's warranty carry over too?

Will phone Apple on Monday if no one knows.

Thanks. :)

Yes, just ring up Apple and they'll require you to send them a letter detailing your particulars, and that of the buyer :)

Thanks gentlemen.

Any ideas what details they'll be after, mate? :) Just name and address sort of stuff?

Aye.

When I transferred the Applecare before they just asked for model number and applecare numbers as well as names and addresses.

if you bought applecare with a student discount for £50 then its non transferable

It's not AppleCare, it's just the normal manufacturer warranty thankfully. It was bought via the Apple Education Store but I hope that won't effect things as it's a standard warranty.

Cheers for the heads up though.

I have transferred it no problems when I bought it via HE discount

really? did you buy it for £50? cos they change the name from apple care to HE uplift contract and its non transferable only under the HE scheme

did you buy applecare throught the HE store separate from your mac? or HE uplift contract applecare at the same time you bought your mac.
as far as i am aware its only the £50 version that is not transferable

Warranty and Apple care warranty works on the serial number alone, as soon as you call any apple service provider(I work for one), we ask for the serial number. the GSX system we use will tell us when it was purchased and what type of warranty is lefted on the machine - be it manufacture/applecare/orange business, it stores nothing (as far as I can see on the system; and I use it every other day) about the end user or where it was purchase from.
