Hi All,
Been looking at the Xonar DX that on 'this week only' this week wondering if its a worthwhile upgrade for my home cinema setup.
At the moment my sound setup takes optical straight from my onboard sound chipset on my media centre through my Yamaha AV amp to my Tannoy speakers. I could do this via hdmi (as my amp supports HDMI switching etc), but found it more stable using the optical for audio (video switching is done by the AV amp using HDMI).
I know the Xonar has very good SNR but will I see the benefit when its all kept digital? As does this mean as its not analogue until its been processed by the amp its the SNR of my amp thats the pertinent factor?
Not sure how this works, so any advice much appreciated!
