Is an MX518 more comfortable to use than an MX310?

When I bought my computer a few years a go I got an MX310 with it and have been mostly happy with it except for the fact I don't think it’s the most comfortable mouse to use in the world (not bad, just not great).

When I use it I place my thumb on the left side and my index and middle fingers on the two main mouse buttons. My ring finger is placed on the right edge of the 2nd mouse button and my little finger just underneath on the right side. I find this a bit awkward to use sometimes as there's little space to the right of the 2nd mouse button and my little finger just doesn't sit comfortable near it.

I guess it might be difficult to see what I'm talking about if you have never used an MX310, but hopefully you get the picture.

Anyway I've decided enough is enough now and I want to get a more comfortable mouse. I'm right handed so it wouldn't have to be a symmetrical mouse like the MX310. I've looked at the MX518, but I'm not entirely sure if it would more comfortable than the mouse I have at the moment and be worth the cash.

I'm not really fussed about the fact that it has extra buttons or that you can change the sensitivity of the mouse on the fly. The only reason I'm really looking to upgrade is due to the fact that my current mouse isn't as comfortable as I'd like it to be.

It's difficult to tell from pictures, but from what I've seen it looks like an MX518 would be more comfortable to use than an MX310 due to the different shape on the right side.

So is there anyone out there that has used both mice and noticed any difference in the ergonomics of the mice when switching between the two? Alternatively if you've only used an MX518 before could you tell me whether it's very comfortable for right hand use or not?

hi,

I used both the mx310 and mx518, I absolutely loved the mx310, mainly because it was small. And it took me quite a while to get used to the mx518, since it is quite a lot bigger, overall i think the mx310 is more comfortable. But then again my hands arent very big, and the mx310 is more of a mouse for small hands. So if you think its to small, definitly go for a mx518, im sure you will enjoy it.

About the ergonomics, the mx518 is designerd for right hand users, while the 310 was designed for both left and right. This does make a difference since the mx518 feels really well in the right hand.

Alternately you could look into the other options, like the g5, or some other wireless options
