Is anyone else thinking about giving up on GPUs for a few months?

well just wait for the higher Ram version of the nvidia cards to come out and profit that way from the inevitable price drop or laugh at all the scalpers with their scalped stock

moved up 4 positions in a que in about 5 weeks, did nvidia plan to sell 10 units of this card?
it's a joke, I should be charging overclockers interest on the money

lol of course... some people probably have had their money sitting in OC's account for what 2 months now..

OCUK be laughing they asses off at fools.

They got people paying gouged prices upfront for cards with no ETA. They'll be thinking, precedent set, we can pull this **** all the time (they already road tested it on Monitors that took months to deliver a while back), so they know some people will just accept whatever price they want to charge, take that money up front, and not have to deliver anything for months. This is because the modern consumer has lost any sense of the value of money or how transactions are meant to be carried out. You pay something you get something in return, not a place in a queue that moves slower than the M25 at rush hour. This was always how "pre-order" culture was going to play out.

Anyone with any sense would think "If I've gotta wait then what's in it for me? a discounted card?, ok maybe I'll wait then" - but no it's ok you can gouge my a** and I'll sit there in a queue like a dumbass...then you've got other people actually defending gouging and anti-consumer practices as if it's "fine"...

The World has gone mad. I'm just waiting to see what they'll come up with next, the old mail in rebate from the US has started to become more prevalent, another scam. Steve from Nexus said it works for AIB's because they know only 30-40% of people will claim the rebate, and they can always make the process as hoop jumpy as they like so some people will just give up. But I suppose that's "fine" as well...

:D

I’ll be buying one of the new consoles instead, as it’s a lot more bang for my money. In no rush though so will pick one up in the new year

I effectivley have

I have an EVGA card on order (not from OCUK I hasten to add)...who knows when it will turn up

and the way the prices have all crept up on all cards means if I cancel my card and try to order another its will actually cost me more money for less well specced cards

so I might as well just sit and wait now...its really quite annoying

Stock alerts for EVGA cards have been popping up regularly on discord for a while now, pretty much every day.

I'm like this on everything. I wanted a new PSU, a 3080, and a 38" monitor and honestly I am about to give up on everything. The PSU I want is being scalped, the 3080 is being scalped, and the 38" monitors are in really short supply and even the ones that do exist seem to have numerous issues with the fan on the new G-Sync boards. It's a shame. I have the money, I want to spend, but there is nothing to spend on! It's really annoying.

If something as inconsequential as a GPU upgrade is stressing you out because you can't get one, then yes for goodness sake just walk away for now, enjoy Christmas and come back to it in the new year.

I was looking forward to building a new system to replace my i5-2500k +1080 even though it runs modern games ok I wanted something new and more powerful, but I am giving up until early next year now.
Hopefully supplies and prices might be a bit better and Flight Simulator 2020 will have more of its bugs ironed out
