Is Apple News worth it?

I used to subscribe to the Financial Times, but I can't afford it anymore (£55 a month). I'd still like a good source for news and wondered if Apple News was worth the cost? I'm interested in general information, business news, finance, and technology.

Without diverging the thread too much. Do you find you get consistently better quality of news through a premium version, versus all the free content out there?

For general news, I can't imagine FT articles on the war for example, are any better than those from free sources.

The thing I liked about the FT was that they concentrated on facts. When you compare the FT which is mainly fact related to a paper like the Guardian which is mainly opinion based you can see a big difference.

Why not just sign up for a month see what it’s like?
Not sure but they might offer a free trial.

edit/ Yeah they do, you can get 1 month free.

I completely see where you are coming from on the fact and opinion though. I can’t stand most news sources for this.

How do I stop Apple News from giving me any stories about football whatsoever? It keeps giving me top headlines despite me telling it to do ‘less like this’.
You go to settings/news app and scroll down to restrict stories in Today to channels you follow. I found that's the best way. I've done this on all my devices.

I hate the news in general so and find it too depressing, so mines set just to the Ice Hockey team I follow and the magazines I read.

As a side I keep getting 5 months for free rolling by having a barclaycard and barclays account. They keep sending me 5 month trials that state only to new subscribers but it keeps re-activating for me. Same with TV, Fitness etc.

I know this is a bit late now but you can check the list to see if anything appeals:

Imo nothing on there holds a candle to the FT. There's some decent stuff in there like popular mechanics but nothing that really fills the same niche with as high quality.

I went back to the FT mainly for that reason. I get Apple News+ because me and Mum share the cost of Apple One Premier, but I don't think either of us use it now.
