Is asking for a good will gesture cheeky?

Basically, I've been sent a used case instead of a new one from a fairly well known retailer (not OCUK).

Now, this is a massive inconvinience to me as I have to send it back, wait for a new one, I've missed my powder coating slot and I may not get my build done before the 16th which is when I return to university.

Not only that, but I had to book a day off work to receive the case and may possibly need to do the same to get the replacement.

I know they'll probably replace the case and take the new one free of charge, is it cheeky to ask for a discout code/etc due to the inconvience? I'm probably going to have to halt this entire build til I get back from university.

No, it's not cheeky at all

I'd make sure I got a discount off my next purchase or at least all postage fees reffunded cos if you buy something new you expect it new

You can ask, but how about a little perspective... Its a computer case... Is it the end of the world if you have to wait a little bit to build your l337 powder coated PC?

It was a £230 case, yes I think I'm justified. For them to sell you something used when you paid new is wrong. If you're just going to whinge about "perspective" and how people in Africa are starving and I'm bitching about a case GTFO my thread troll. It's a computer forum, how can you next expect these sorts of posts?

It's not a case of waiting a little, I'm going to have to wait a month or so during which the hardware I originally purchased is going to be pushing out of date. A month I would not have had to wait if they hadn't messed up.

I asked them politely, I wasn't rude in the email. Curious as to how they'll respond.

with a £230 case i would ask for some compensation. if missing your powder coating slot cost you money, then ask for that in compensation. if it didnt, then tell them that you paid £x up front for your case to be powdercoated and would like that refunded as the powder coaters cannot refund it

(dont make it too high an amount though)

Darling, I think you need to calm down a little! After all it is just a computer case and an internet forum!

Regarding your hardware getting 'out of date'........ OH NOES!!!!!

What caused the sudden influx of trolls? I thought all the schools had started again by now.

What is the point of all this overclocking nonsense anyway? What's up with buying a top spec PC and just using it like that? Seriously? Someone talk me through it.

It's only taken me 7 years to ask. :D

Because extra performance for free is good!

Perfectly entitled in my opinion. Personally I'd kick up a fuss if they didn't offer something back, at the end of the day they've sent you something other than what you have paid for and you've had to wait a while for them to sort it out.

**** happens in life. If I got a goodwill gesture everytime someone cocked up something I bought or ordered I would be rich with no need to work by now probably. It's just what happens isn't it ?

I agree people do **** stuff up all the time and for something like a Maccy D's order I wouldn't be asking for a goodwill gesture, but he was sent a used £230 case as well as all the hassle it's now causing him, that's worth something imho.
