Does the Asus A8N-SLi Premium nForce4 SLi (Socket 939) support standard IDE hard drives?
I plan to buy an X1900 XT-X card (am not considering a second one) 3800 x2 CPU, 2GB PC 3200 Value, plus a case and PSU.

Would this mobo be an ideal way to go? I find this potential purchase more of a sticking point than the rest of the setup.

Hi badbob,
Thanks for the info. Buying a mobo is becoming a bit of a nightmare.
I think I shall go for the A8N SLI Premium, I suppose its better to cover the possibilty of eventually getting another vid card, alas funds will not allow it at the moment. Come to think of it, a good TFT monitor would be at the top of the list.
Thanks again. ;)

I had the ASUS A8N-SLI Premium for over two weeks now, very good board, in fact I just bought another for a second system I'm building for a friend!

I spent about a week running it at stock (my first A64 ya see!) and played about with some drivers and stuff, now I am starting the overclocking, so far so good. . .

Hi Big.Wayne,
I seems that Asus could well be the mobo to get.

Thanks for the info, nothing like getting the gen from a user of the board.

I have this board also. It is rock steady and fuss free with other components. I tried a DFI Expert, that was fussy to say the least. Purchase with confidence.

I've got one and it's great. Got by opty 165 at 250x9 and HTT 4x. Running Geil value ram and it's rock solid.

Was dead easy to setup. Will recommend to anyone who wants a new 939 board.

Asus A8N-Sli Premium Mobo

I really want to get this board rather than a crossfire board, but I want to get an ATI X1900XT. Can you confirm an ATI PCI-e card is OK in an SLI board. Sorry Im a bit confused I though SLI boards were for Nvidia cards or am I being thick (not unusual) ! I'm not intending to get 2 cards.

It will work without a problem

You can even have two ATI cards in an nVidia SLI motherboard - they just can't be used together in a multi GPU arrangement

How many onboard USB and firewire connectors does the A8N Premium have? The stacker has three USB connectors (total of six ports) and a firewire for the front bay. Does the Realtek onboard audio have onboard connectors for headphone output?

Hi Badbob,

its called the *Premium* for a reason :)

You should head over to the ASUS site and look up the specs or download the manual (.pdf)
