im very new to watercooling so please be gentle with me :p

ive got a small watercooling setup and the res doesnt hold much water so what ive been thinking is is it better to be bigger ?

more water = lower temps ?

also from what ive seen they are all made of perpex ...what if it was made of aluminum with a perspex top would that help to hold temps down ?

just a mad idea so what do you think ?

thanks for the info chaps

Peers out of bedroom windows and spots 150 litre waterbutt  :D

looks like it back to the design table ;)

Its not a bad idea, just if you're going to do it you need a lot of surface area, take the Zalman Resorator for example, that is just a giant aluminium reservoir that can cool the loop without the need for a radiator.

what if its being actively cooled like a rad ?

then it will be like having two rads. Maybe you could mod a rad on ** res? pointless mind

2 birds 1 stone

i dont have the room for another rad but i could build a bigger res to fit inside the case then it could be cooled by the case fans

i could machine it from a block of aluminium and produce shapes like a heatsink on all sides
