Honest question, if i was hypothetically to come across a 7990 and started bitcoin mining, would it be worth it ? i dont really know much qbout it except theres only 21million of them and roughly 13 mil have been mined, the value seems to be high and hasnt dropped. i dunno, this is why im asking haha

Not mining Bitcoin directly, you would mine something called X11, X13 or X15 based "altcoins", either for the coins themselves or to exchange them for BTC. If you don't pay your own electricity bills then yes you would make a bit of money (not enough to pay off the cost of a GPU anytime soon though). If you pay your electricity you probably won't cover the cost these days.

I'm currently making about £4 a day in BTC mining on 6 280x cards so not at all profitable and only continuing in the hope the value rises in the future.

christ, i dont think ill bother then haha, £6 a day on 6x 280s sheesh
its one of my biggest shudda wudd cuddas from back in the day when i first heard about it, only really taken an interest when that guy cashed in for $1million

If only we could develop a time travel machine right :(

Already been said but no it's not. Unfortunately some people saw it as a get rich quick scheme, forked out loads on hardware only to spend more on electricity than they got back from the coins. Which of course is hilarious.

If your not fussed about electric costs then go for it.

Save the coins you make (or 0.001s of coins) and when the price increases higher, sell.

Or simply use the money you were going to spend on a 7990 and buy coins directly and hold them.

I don't pay the electric specifically but it would be tight if I did that :p

I'm in the market for a graphics card, I thought if I got a 7990 I could leave it on over night to mine with a decent hash rate

The worlds cleverest Pyramid scheme has got too big. The guys at the top have made their millions and the rest are clinging onto the vague hope of something whilst scrabbling around in the dirt for pennies.
