Is Borderlands 2 still worth playing?

I played it a bit at launch, but didn't finish it. On occasion I see people say how they have poured 100's of hours in to it and still play it etc so I'm wondering if I should retry it.

I do like loot style games.

What's the draw to it? Is there like an end game loot grind then or do folks just replay the main story over and over?
 
That's for all the replies, due to time etc and when I get to play I'll probably only be playing solo but sounds like that's not too bad though co op is where it's at then?

Any suggestions on how to tackle it? Complete it first then grab the dlc or play the dlc as I go through?

Also what character is the 'best' :D

Started last night, holds up well considering it's a few years old 2012 if I recall.

Getting a technical issue though :(. Every now and then it stutters badly, sound will skip and maybe the screen will go black for a few seconds. Really odd. May try reinstalling my graphics card drivers and see if that helps. All other games are fine and run as expected :(
 
I have force physx to GPU instead of auto. Has fixed the big lock ups and black screens.

But am I right in assuming this game isn't amazingly well optimised in general? Frame rate seems to be a bit choppy when things hear up even if I drop it to 1080p. Not a major issue, just wondering if it's just me or the game?
 
Seems the game has a lot of devoted fans! Hopefully it grabs me. Tech issues aside I like it! Can you set it to auto loot the ammo containers etc?

I've done the 2nd boss, it felt a bit messy died a few times but not too bad
