Is colour calibration worth it?

Actually, must mention something.. When you run a calibration and the profile is activated, you will most likely notice your screen go substantially darker (As most screens are shipped WAY to bright at factory settings).. There will be a little program in the application folder called "CalibrationLoader.exe". It's recommended you make a shortcut to this somewhere easy to get too, double click it and it loads the last calibration profile.

I only say because sometimes after coming out of Crysis my screen doesn't revert back to calibrated settings (As it uses factory super bright settings for the game), so a quick click and i'm back to normal. Hope that makes sense!

Nice thread, helped me a fair bit in deciding which unit to get!
Ive seen a Spyder2 Suite for £50, is it worth that for the quality you get from it? I wasnt looking to spend a lot at the moment as money is tight but doing some work a few days ago really showed me the difference between my Dell 2407 and my macbook pro, ended up changing a lot of colours which was very time consuming!

Ideally I'd only spend around £50 as its more of a dipping toe in the water moment with these types of units as I said I cant afford the best of the bunch but do need something to help me!

Just seen a Pantone Huey for £50 or a pro for £75, is the standard one better than a Spyder2?

the standard one is single screen only btw. I'm annoyed about that.

I've not tested the spyder2 but at this sort of price range I doubt the difference will be worlds apart.

I got a new 226BW a while back. The color was so bad i sent it back. It was then sent back to me :rolleyes:

I then went out and got the Panetone Huey Pro and now i love my screen. When you calabrate, i've found that the screen often appears dull, but the colors are VERY even and everything just looks better.

I got it for £50 new off a well known auction site.

The pantone huey automatically adjusts your screen based on the lighting conditions to whatever period in which you set the auto-calibration.

I have mine set to every 15 mins.
