'The L227WT's brightness and vivid colours won't suit office work, but they're perfect for entertainment applications.'

So what are they advocating? Buying a worse monitor for General Internet surfing/word processing?

I am looking to buy a LCD, you see, and this monitor was a key consideration, but this comment has troubled me.

Can anyone help?

well the L227WT is overly bright at default, and colours are not particularly accurate. The same could be said of many monitors though! Take a look at this review. With calibration, luminance is far more comfortable, and colours are much better, so if you can calibrate, no issues really for general use.
