I just got a corsair hx 620w power supply and getting 2 3870x2's next week, is it enough to power it?

I got:

q6600
2gb ocz ddr3
p5e3 deluxe mobo
x2 500gb WD sata
sound blaster xfi
arctic freezer 7 pro
multi function floppy disk
blueray rw & hd dvd rom

Watercooling with 2 loops when the 3870X2 blocks come out

.... I just seen a thread with a guy with a 580w psu might struggle or somehting.... any advice? should I get a bigger psu?

Hello stevenazari1, the Corsair HX 620W will be absolutely fine.

(Edit) I do apologize, reading through your post again, I have confused myself. :p Do you mean, will the Corsair HX 620W power two Radeon HD 3870 X2 (ATI's new graphics card) or two standard 3870? :)

The chances are it will, as the Cosair range is high quality and pretty stable. However, don't quote me on this :P

I was wondering this aswell, I thought it might just work but a little more horse power is needed eh?.. Guess I'll have to upgrade my PSU if I really want more than one Graphics card then.

Mine couldn't run 2 2900s with a similar spec machine

Bare in mind though that the 2900 is a powerhog, I wouldn't be suprised if the 3870 X2's didn't need as much power. I guess we really need the NDA removing so we can see whats the real deal with this graphics card.

The pics show 2x6 pin connectors on the X2. So less than 225W and more than 150W. Take the high side, a small overclock say 180-200W a piece. 180-200W for the OCed quad. 2 loops and the rest? 650W easily. You're asking a lot for 50A Corsair. A 60A psu would be a safer bet, maybe something like the 750w Thermaltake for similar money? Or the Corsair TX750W / PCP&C Silencer 750 for a bit more.

Plus, if hes watercooling 2 loops through too, id go for more power, the corsair will probably manage fine, but if you are buying the PSU now, and we dont know what the power requirements are for the X2's, it might be better to take the safe option of a 750W PSU.

IIRC the 620W only has 2xPCI-E (6 pin) power, whereas the 750W has 4x PCI-E (8 pin)

TBH, i'd think that 4x GFX on a 620W PSU, even the corsair, would be pushing it a fair bit.

The 620w now comes with 4 PCI-E connectors, but I'd still go 750+ with the loads he's looking to put on the thing.
