Is CPU burnt out?

Basically, took the machine apart to reseat CPU and HSF. Put back everything exactly how it was, everything powers up, all lights are on, but screen doesnt do anything (monitor doesnt come off standby) and there are no POST beeps or anything.

There was quite a lot of movement in the HSF when i touched it, so i reseated it again, now it's much tighter, but still nothing. any ideaS?

It might be worth trying to reset the BIOS, and checking your graphic card did
not move when reinstalling your CPU & HSF and double check all connections.

my graphics card certaily did move. Is that a problem? Wouldn't resetting the CMOS fix that?

Make sure you have connected the 4Pin plug that comes out of the PSU and plugs into the Motherboard.

Left the battery out of the board for 35 minutes, still nothing.

Happend to me, cpu died...

Bought a new one and that died in 3 days.

Something in the air i think there were at least 4 more other people last week who sufferd this

well, update.

reseated CPU once again. exactly as it was before

everythign is working. i freaking hate PC's. I need a new hobby.

As i said, everything is plugged in appropriately.

If GFX card wasnt plugged in, it would still POST.

In any case, its fixed.
