This question is purely to finalise weather I should spend extra on the gpu or cpu in run up to buying a new pc. Or should I wait for the new zen processors for a new build?

Gaming and rendering i can stretch 1100£ Ida liked a 390x and but the bulk of the cost I figure will be split between cpu and vga. Sacrificing one or the other. And Id like to o.c the cpu as much as safely possible

I would say hands down the GPU if you are currently running a 2500. Question on that is, which GPU is worth investing in right now versus waiting for the next generation in a few months.

My recommendation? Get a second hand 970 (approx double the performance of your 680) and wait it out. Everything else in your build looks stable. If on the other hand you must buy now, then look into the popular X99/5820k recommendations that seem to be the norm in these forums.
