Is the eyefinity thang a gimmick, or is it something enthusiasts couldnt live without?
Let's hear your thoughts on this.

Well it's nice to have if you have the space, money and system to support it and it certainly has its uses. It's not for everybody.

No I don't think it is

phyX yes it is very much so

if you have the money for the hardware to support it than fine, but its possible to use 3 19inch screens to be fair

Really it is, since the experience simply isn't worth the price tag, one single really descent monitor that supports 3D would be better for me.

Just tried it out for the first time and to be honest im a bit 50:50 on the subject, im running a 2 x BenQ G2420HDBL monitors on the outer two and 1 x Dell U2410 in the middle, tried games like GRID and changed to the in car view etc, it does feel a bit gimmicky, like you never really need to look at the other two...

I guess it depends on the game, it could have it's uses but im yet to really find one

For a joke i tried CSS on it, this is what it looks like (only a quick photo while i was playing a mix hence missing the whole setup)

Oh god...that looks...errr.
Well The dell looks good.
I though about getting the benq led backlit monitor, bu us this really what it looks like on counterstrike. :(

you only look at the centre monitor as the other 2 add peripheral vision, but in all honesty i got rid of it as it just wasn't worth the money in the end

I don't think i'd ever use it in CSS, racing games, flight sims, maybe some RTS games? it could be good in though and add a new level of depth to the games, but i found playing GRID with a single 5870 it felt sluggish, FPS was ok, but the game actually felt like it was chugging a bit in it's responsivness towards inputs

And i agree about the BenQs, the reason i bought the Dell was because i was so disapointed by the colour quality, previously i had a Hyundai W240D and while the colour wasn't bad i never seen it as brilliant, thought the BenQs would be a step up....i was very wrong (both the Hyundai and BenQ are TN panels, wouldn't of thought there would be much difference)

I've never tried eyefinity and know little about how it works, but surely those Benqs can't be THAT green?

I was thinking about ordering one on monday, but that looks shocking.

Hey mr.bios. How much was the dell you have there, and how do you feel about it?

Dell U2410 - £460

Very very impressed with it, as you can tell it's worlds ahead of the two TN panels you see sat next to it, dust2 on css doesn't really do the BenQs justice as there not quite as bad as what it may seem in the picture, but still they're nothing compared to the dell

Thinking of exchanging the two benqs for a 120hz monitor, just so i can try both an IPS screen and a 120hz TN, i was torn between the dell and a 120hz TN screen before i bought the Dell, eyefinity is definitely not for me and as i use the PC for music, games and internet it's pretty much a waste having three, Also there's been a few people asking on the forums about which to go for between the two as they work out near enough the same price, it'd be handy to be able to give people an opinion of the two side by side

Yeah I think there's a benq dedicated thread for that model and the non back-lit model I think and they seem to really like it for it's price it's OK.
But I'm defintely going to save and get a better monitor.

It's brilliant, gimmick or not the added peripheral vision increases intensity and involvement :D U dont look directly at the side monitors so any stretching is irrelevant and, NO before anyone asks, the bezels do not distract AT ALL. Go back to one monitor afterwards and u really notice the walls though ;)

It took me a while to get into it, I even sent back my TH2G when i first got it but as I already had the three monitors when ATI released their 5*** Series and supported it natively i thought why not  Mr. Bios sort out ur bezel management and give it a couple of weeks and then u'll love it.

@ creed -
Cool shots there dude, specially the BC2 ones. Must look grand on those Dells :)

Just a quick question about BC2 actually - is it a free-roamer like Far Cry 2, Fallout 3 etc.

Or is it a very restricted "on the rails" game like COD MW?
