Is EYEfinity a Gimmick??

I just find the bezels in the middle of the image too much of a distraction for spanning 3D games across 3 monitors. I can see it working say for a flight sim, where you might have a different view on each monitor like having the instruments to the side or something.

I agree....I also feel Eyefinity is at its best in vehicle-related gaming...flight sims, car racing games etc. In these games the bezels wont matter cuz they can simulate the real deal - pillars dividing the windows in a cockpit or the windscreen frame of a car hee hee.

No doubt it helps with FPS games as well but I dunno....I feel for those games I would prefer one big honking screen.

Must admit, considering the cost of 3 nice monitors, might as well just buy a Dell 30" :D .... i was going to but the missus told me off for even considering it :(

How hard would it be for manufactures to make eyefinity monitors without side bezels. I know its a niche product but i doubt it would add that much to manufacturing costs.

Thats one reason Ive decided to hold of on 3 new monitors for Eyefinity. As more and mroe people get into multi-monitor gaming the manufacturers will sit up and take notice and without doubt the next generation of displays will be much much slimmer with very thin bezels...geared towards Eyefinity users.

It's good for flight simulators as it helps train your peripheral vision to looks for planes, but i think it is just a gimmik for other games

Doubt it would be that hard at all really, there will obviously always be some small gap there but, if you take apart a laptop screen for example the edging on the inside is only about 2mm wide so i can't see why they couldn't at least make it that small on standard monitors

I think its a strength issue right with the bezels? But then they can just make the horizontal bezels stronger when they make the side ones very thin....

Sorry to hijack my own thread. But could some kind fellow have a look at my thread in the cases section titled "z7 plus second thought?" please.

Thought i would try getting a better picture of the BenQs next to the Dell on a game which i thought would look a bit better...

^ if i take a screenshot it looks as lovely as creeds pictures above, but as you can see from an actual photo of the screens in use, it's not quite as good as it looks in screenshots, it does add some peripheral vision but nothing really worth the performance hit you take from having a resolution of 5760 x 1080 :p

Only other problem i get with my setup is that the middle monitor is obviously a 16:10 screen so things don't lineup properly, not that you actually notice that at all when your playing games

EDIT: never realised just how much of a greening/blueing the BenQs have, i think i need to play with the colour settings a bit to see if i can improve that, i think it's on one of the presets at the moment

@ creed -
Cool shots there dude, specially the BC2 ones. Must look grand on those Dells :)

Just a quick question about BC2 actually - is it a free-roamer like Far Cry 2, Fallout 3 etc.

Or is it a very restricted "on the rails" game like COD MW?

The single player is very linear. I havent completed it but so far (2hrs in) there is no chance for deviation from the path.

Must admit, considering the cost of 3 nice monitors, might as well just buy a Dell 30" :D .... i was going to but the missus told me off for even considering it :(

my 3 Dells cost me £300 refurbed with 3 yr warranty ;)

How do you find the performance is on your system creed?

When i was playing BC2 on max it felt a bit like there was some sluggishness in the game responding to mouse movements, im not sure how i check what my FPS is in BC2 without something like fraps though?

EDIT: Going to try the BenQs on each different preset mode, those pictures were taken in the "game" preset, ill take a photo of each one and see what the difference is, could be down to the slight angle at which the benqs are to me taking the pictures as well though

it looks better, but now it has too much of a green element to it, also tested it out on dust2 on css again and the blue is definately less but it's still VERY apparent as to how much the colours are lacking in them compared to the IPS

you can really see the bleed in your monitors (benq), no matter what angle you look at mines you cant see any darkness around the corners/edges. I must have some other setting on my monitor whats different than yours.

I have my picture mode set to "Photo", i changed it to the other settings which made it darker and more green in some pictures/games. Whats yours set at?

What's the best way to test for bleeding in the corners?

the pictures make it look far far worse than it is, in fact in person i can't see any darkness in the corners at all, could it be the flash from the camera that's made it look like that in the photos?

EDIT: i've got it set to standard + the colour settings you gave me, i'll try photo, i've just taken a photo of the monitors face on, and tried looking at them from different angles and i can't see any bleeding except for what is in those photos, odd

After looking at your Dell monitor I think I will have to save my pennies for one :p

It's certainly a lovely monitor, i'd love a second :D (and a third! :p) but that'd likely be me with no sex until about 2015 as it'd take that long for my missus to forgive me :D

Just tried it them on photo marc512, looks practically identical to standard + your colour settings, theres definately a bit of a darkening in the top left of my left monitor, which is a pitty, but the rest seems to be ok, that said, i wonder if it's something to do with BC2, as if i get shot i get a dark redness in that corner like a health thing, same in the top right of the right monitor... might have to test out a few other games, as theres no darkening on the desktop on a white screen
