does anyone know if firefox is the best browser

i am using it at the moment but i was just wondering if anyone knew whether there were any better browsers that are better and quicker around
 
I used to swear by Firefox. I now use IE7 which suits me just fine. I can't say there's a huge difference in speed. Windows Update now works without a dodgy Firefox extension too :D

With default settings I would say Opera is faster than firefox. however if you tweak firefox a bit then the speed difference isn't as noticeable. The current weekly builds that Opera is releasing at the moment are in preparation for Opera 9 and they are much quicker (I've found) than Opera 8.5 or firefox 1.5.
 
Personally I think...

IE7 > Firefox > IE6

But I suggest you try it yourself, nobody can tell you what you will and won't like :)
 
firefox i've found quick, but if i have lots of tabs open it can get pretty sluggish, especially if i leave it open for a few hours. It also seems to eat memory.

i've been using opera for the last week, and i'm very impressed, seems fast and doesn't use that much memory.
 
There was a firefox thread around here somewere that showed how to remove banner adds and lots other stuff does anyone know were it has gone?
 
opera does load up faster and pressing back is faster too


but firefox is best imo, becuase of the extention support :

adblock plus with filterset g, customize google, fireftp, gmail notifier, downthemall, download statusbar

etc
