I got a few questions

Is apple.com using flash?

There page is animated and I would like to know what it is, java, flash, dreamweaver???

I hear flash is slow, is that true? apple.com isn't slow but of course apple got all the money to pay for their own fast servers, but in general for us lot that can't afford mass server space is flash good to use nowadays or better making an animated site using something else?

I am working on a site using templates and plan to go the flash route is it worth it?

Many thanks in advance

Flash is good, if used in doses, Silverlight is another system you can use.

What do you want to use flash for in your website - an animation? video? the whole thing?

I feel this will do better in the HTML section, and RTMing it for that reason.

what is RTMing?

Sorry I should have posted it in the HTML section, I forgot about this section!

I am changing my online stores layout, I am trying to use a flash animated CMS template. I am not looking to have a flash intro page. Just when you hover and move the mouse cursor over the name of sub pages on the site I want them to interact.

Link us the site - let us see what it looks like and if it needs it.

Don't want to add flash when you don't need too.

I can't link to the site as it's against the forums policy, as well there is nothing to see the site is down as my hosting account has expired. I am looking into getting a new account with someone else.

On a side note, my store used oscommerce, I had an shop admin area and cpanel. I heard a username and password for each area. I just tried logging into each site and have been refused. Even if I move to another website hosting provider do I then loose my admin and cpanel? I thought I paid for those!

Many thanks in advance

Flash has a huge install base and many users have it on their systems but I wouldn't rely on it for a small part of a basic site. Javascript and AJAX will produce the more simple Flash animations and interactivity with little overhead and all modern browsers have native Javascript support.

If you were to use Flash for a website, you'd be better creating the entire site using it.

OScommerce would have been installed on your host therefore anything on that hopst you haven't backed up and let expire won't be available. It may be be recoverable if you use their hosting services again.

Oh no, I never backed it up. I didn't know how to.

So I don't own the oscommerce! That means I have lost all my data such as who has viewed which products on my store the most. Who has signed up to my site. That's their delivery details and contact information gone. Yikes!!!

So if I wanted to implement javascript or ajax into a site would I need to know html and could I use an easy template? Also would the site need to be created from the ground up to use ajaz and javascript like you say with flash it's better?

Many thanks in advance
