Many years ago I created a little website for our local club.... Roll on 15 years and I am back in the same predicament. I did use frontpage for it and paid for hosting somewhere long gone.

I do not really want to get heavily into learning web design so to speak. (which is why i used frontpage)

Doesn't need to be anything super special.

Updated news section (easy for committee members to update)
Results.
Simple Forum (members only)
Booking system for activities
Payments would good for activities
Mobile friendly

For around 80-150 members (its will get purged every year)

Any ideas, having a look through the current posts Wordpress seems to be the thing at the moment.

No. Forget about it.

For those who are not interested in coding there are four main ways people setup websites now days:

1) Use a dedicated general purpose builder, Squarespace: https://www.squarespace.com/ or wix https://www.wix.com/ are both good examples of this. They come with hosting and a click/drag interface for setting things up.

2) Use more focused builders for specific needs, for example, Shopify https://www.shopify.com/ is a builder tailored to the E-commerce market.

3) Use a "CMS" like Wordpress. These content management systems are installed on hosting, then have themes and plugins applied for customization and styling. These can either be installed manually or though the integrated plugin store. It provides more flexibility than (1) but can become difficult to maintain if your chosen themes or plugins are not updated or you chose to self host.

4) Hire or contract a web development agency. You should in theory get the most flexibility and lowest requirement for maintenance doing this, but expect to pay 3k-50k upfront with inflated hosting costs.
