Hey guys, just ordered the 500S and was wondering how important is the mousepad.

Do you guys recommend anyone specifically. I have been looking at both

1) Ozone Ground Level L Gaming Pad.

OR

2) Roccat Taito King-Size Shiny Black Gaming Mousepad 3MM.

Which one would you recommend?

they are comfortable and make your mouse movement consistent. they stop you wearing down your mouse feet and wooden desk. overall, yes they are important. once you have used a mousepad for a while you will hate the feel of your mouse dragging on your desk. what you get is not important (what material pad you prefer is subjective), but i'd recommend a puretrak talent.

Odd, i'm the opposite, pads drive me nuts and i prefer just using the desk(kept clean it's a non-issue for me).

I use to have a big steelseries one, and whilst it was nice i still prefer just using the desk. Naturally the one downside to that, is that the desk does get worn over time(as do the mouse feet).

I have a wooden Mexican pine desk and instead of having a mouse mat I was going to wrap the whole desk instead, anybody done this?

I have been using an ice matt for roughly 10 years now, still looks brand new and my mouse loves it. Feels a lot smother for FPS games using a matt than without for me.

Another plus to a mouse matt is you don't wear the desk down as well.

Grab one of the big mouse mats that fill your desk then it stays clean and tidy.

The OC megga gaming mat XXL i think it is

EDIT: Just clicked the link above and seen someone has already suggested it :->

If you've not got a super duper slick mouse matt you'll gonna get pwned! flashing mouse rule :)
It just takes time getting used to a new mouse surface ...you may not like it at 1st
I prefer comfort with a bit of grip feeling
Them original glass ice matts last forever dont' they ! my friends had 1 around the same time plays warcraft every night still looks new feels the same :)
PS I use a giant allsop raindrop xl pad
