is htc hero getting 2.2?

I don't think it will. Not herd much about it lately. It probably will get a custom 2.2 rom but I doubt an official rom.

My HTC Magic which is a lower spec phone recently got 2.2.1 update. IT is a tad faster with it but i think the Magic lacks the RAM to run 2.2 properly something that should not be a problem for the Hero.

I don't get why the HTC Magic has it and theres no talk about the HTC Hero having it yet. Wierd.

Isn't the Magic branded as a google phone? Meaning it should get all the updates.

There is custom ROMs with 2.2 although I haven't tried any yet as its a bit buggy. I've got 2.1 custom rom at the moment (Chocolateeclair or something) and I think its the most the phone can handle. Having Minisquadron installed takes up most of the RAM and I really struggle with swapping apps around to make room. I could do with an SD card I could use for apps2sd really!

i haven't seen anything regarding the hero and 2.2 offical the legand got it as I have a legand with vodaphone...it seems better with it but typing is a pain the ass.

you could try a custom one

Only if you root and install a custom Rom, infact they are very fast, probably the best performance a hero has ever had. However, there isn't any decent Sense roms with 2.2 out there.

Isn't the hero and the wildfire the same spec underneath ? Wildfire got 2.2 offical on the 22nd ?

MY Hero's using FroydVillain 1.7.2 which is based on Android 2.2.1, its definitely one of the smoothest, fastest, and most battery conserving ROM available for Hero. I doubt I'd ever go back to using official ROMS, as it feels like the companies have given up supporting it.

EDIT: Apparently VillainRom are releasing some surprise tomorrow for Hero's, possibly Gingerbread on Hero? haha
