I need to update basically my whole tower, is it a bad time to do it atm? i hear rumors of lots of new stuff round the corner, and would rather wait a couple of weeks if im gonna get better value for money,

Im after ram/cpu/mobo/case/psu/gcard maybe new hdisks,

I have some sata disks i use in raid 0, is it worth me getting sata 2 ones?

DDR3 seems kinda over priced and not worth it so fastest DDR2 i guess?

Probably going for an E8500 processor so, not sure of a good mobo for this? ive never overclocked but may this time. Im partial towards asus

My budget is MAX £1000 but ideally id rather pay lots less, so i can put more towards a new monitor later.

I normally like to buy things just below top ridiculous priced spec, ie GTX cards not ultras.

Rig will be used for gaming, photoshop, and few other things, mainly gaming. And i like to build myself. My current pc is about 2 years or so old, and my XFX agp card died on me so im using a 4200. Need something for modern fps/rts

Main thing is tho, i dont know how much it is worth spending atm, to get best value for money which is what i want.

Yes and no really nehalem is just around the corner q4 but will be expensive probably until around next summer so I say get a p35 or p45 or the X38/48 if going crossfire.
If I were buying right now I'd get cheapest core 2 duo that can do 3.2 ghz I can find and a cheap p35 board and cheapest ram with a 4850 or 4870.

i heard that the graphics cards could be dropping in price in july too?

thanks for the reply, if i can save a few ££ i dont mind waiting till end of july, but i cant wait too long my pc is useless atm, im just pretty out of touch with pc parts , hard to know what to do for the best.

You could wait forever :P

theres always a new GPU or CPU around the corner. As long as the market is "fairly stable" thats the best you can hope for.

Ok thats what i was thinking about the July ones, i knwo prices always go down and theres always new gear, but :) sometimes are better than others :)

Oh one other thing, im assuming that case fittings for mobos hasnt changed? if so i can still use my current alu CM case. Current mobo is a K8V
