Is it a good idea to enable VID & multiplier control?

Hey,
I currently have my Q6600 overclocked to 3.4 Ghz. I'm wondering if there'll be any problems if I reenable the functions that allow the computer to adjust the clock according to CPU usage?

There are reports of speedstep causing instabilities, so best to retest after enabling it.

As above though, you'll most likely be fine.

On a related note, anyone know if speedstep/cool&quiet actually reduce the energy consumption of the computer?

The theory is that it should but i've read a few threads and the ones that have tested this theory out have only noticed minimal a 2W - 4W difference.

However, their testing technique may not have been very reliable or even credible as it's not listed.

(Reading that back it's probably not helped you much :/)

It exactly matches my thoughts on the matter, but as such isn't terribly helpful no :)

Will have to test for myself at some point
