Is it acceptable to poison a child to teach them a lesson?

Randomly had this thought come to my head and I'm curious to hear the forum's opinion

Imagine the hypothetical scenario where your child of unspecified gender was caught smoking, would it be OK to force them to smoke as a means of teaching them how bad it is?

I think no, there have to be better options first. Perhaps organise a trip to a ward and see people suffering from lunch cancer? I wonder if there are things like this available?

Are you that guy's daughter?

I'd recently read a story VERY similar to the OP's..

I would be very interested in the long term outcome, but I've heard many adults saying that their parents made them do the same thing when they was a child and got caught smoking. I think it was the norm in the past.

Was this also the norm at the same time?
