is it at all possible on a dell

hey all ok this should be a blunt question but can i overclock this dell cpu in any way shape or form and i have goggled it but seen mixed results so thought i'd come to the people that know what they are talking about:

ok i have this:
CPUz1.jpg
CPUz2.jpg
CPUz3.jpg

and was wondering if it is at all possible to overclock even to 2.0ghz :( - from someone that's never done it and if i could in any way would all i only need 20mhz fsb increase do it?

seems crazy buying a new processor with these limitations:
"Intel® Core™ 2 Duo 1066MHz FSB Socket T with Dual Core technology XD, EM64T, 2MB and up to 4MB L2 cache, EIST and VT (E6000 series)"

and are they all the same at the core - i mean is a E6600 the same as a E6300 just clocked faster?

you should be able to get that speed no probs
any E6xxx series has the same FSB but uses a different multiplier, its the FSB you'll be OCing to get a higher speed. an E7xxx series will have a higher FSB than the E6xxx and the E8xxx higher FSB still, hope this helps
You'll prob need a decent aftermarket cooler like the sunbeam if you dont have on already
dont forget to turn off speedstep whilst youre OCing so you can see your proper speed in CPUz

The newer chips are made with a different process which means they can run faster and cooler than the old ones. I'm sure there will have at least been some small design improvements too (but have never looked as I'm new to Intel chips).

Anyway first thing to do is read the sticky guide at the top. Its got all the basics you should require. It got me from stock speeds of 2.5Ghz to 3.68Ghz on my new E5200 and I'd never overclocked before. Thats not to say you'll get anything like that though as some of the older chips dont overclock that well from what I've read.

And I've just noticed its a Dell machine which means that the BIOS may not give you access to any settings at all. Have you checked to see what if any settings you can alter?

thxs for the quick replies guys

yeah it's a dell (should i have made it clearer - will do now) :( which from reading around almost means NO for overclocking of any sorts. - i've checked the BIOS and there's nothing just enabling and disabling vitalisation and i have the option to make disable dual core - hmm interesting! but nothing like i've seen on screen shots of asus/gigabyte boards - just wondered if anyone knew a way of using something like setFSB or clock gen or something to read the motherboard and squeeze a bit more speed out of my e6300 seems kinda crazy paying approx £140 for something that's the same but faster i.e. e6600

The Cpu shud be able to OC, but it will be the Dell mobo that will stop you. You could see if you can pick up a cheap mobo and oc the e6300.
