Got a set of EBC greens here I've had for a while and not fitted and they've started to smell.

Are they still ok to fit? :)

Thanks,
Jake

So its normal then? - Didn't fancy shelling out for any more and my current ones are mullered, 2 track days and 15k though so not bad :D

Ace

Your pads lasted two trackdays and 15,000 road miles?

My last set of redstuff on the Leon lasted one (incomplete) trackday :(

I don't know if it makes a difference but I also have EBC Ultimax discs fitted?

EDIT: Well they were 30min track sessions, thats probably why :p

I had a set of EBC grooved discs fitted also. Don't get me wrong, the stopping power was immense, but the longevity was pathetic. Well either that or I'm rediculously hard on brakes or you are rediculously soft :p

*thinks back to a MM when you pulled into a pub and from going to the road to the carpark you went from 60ish to stopping*

Smelled good :p

On day to day use unless its an emergency stop they rarely get abused, I got brake fade on the track but that was due to boiling my brake fluid :p

my ebcs stunk to high heaven

i think its normal, that was when they were just sat in the box in the garage

All brake pads smell when you open the box, not just EBC's. Its because they are organic material, much like clutch plates.

My new rear pads smelt like fire after I had them fitted. Probably becasue they were almost on fire when I had gotten off the motorway. Seem fine now and my disc looks like its titanium with lots of pretty rainbow colours.

Never smelt new pads up close, last ones I did myself (Ferodo) didn't have any memorable odour.
