First ever PC built. Got a 9800x3d with Noctua DH15 in a fractal torrent case.

Booted it up earlier today and all I’ve done so far is turn EXPO on in bios as ram was lower than 6000mhz. It recognised the speed once I turned expo on.

And I’ve installed windows. All I’ve downloaded is amd software, cinebench and occt.

I did a 5 min cpu test on occt and it was ok but temps went up to 86 degrees. I did a 10 mins cinebench with occt up at the same time and got a score or 22600 and then 5 mins into another test on cinebench this time with occt off and just cinebench it seemed like it was going quicker and at the 5 minute make my screen went black but my PC was still running.

I’m out of my depth here I feel so any advice is good on what I should do next. Was thinking I’d reapply thermal paste tomorrow. Not messed with any fan speeds etc.

Just got a securityhealthsetup - bad image message when I’ve rebooted the PC back up. Idle temps are 42 degrees just as I’ve booted the PC up

Motherboard bios up to date ?

Drivers and windows updates all done presuming it a fresh install.

I didn’t know you could even update the bios thought it would be all done already?

I’ve downloaded amd software from a YouTube video for my graphics card but that’s it.

Windows update I thought I wouldn’t need to do one of them either as I’ve just uploaded it from a usb from my laptop

First thing I'd do is a full memtest to ensure memory settings are stable. I assume this was a loss of signal rather than the system turning off the display due to power plan settings.

is there a chance your screen settings in windows just turned it off?
windows key > type - power plan (i think default is 5 min's)

it’s just happened again 9 minutes 30 into another cinebench run as someone online said to retest from someone who had a same issue yet this time my screen went black and then it’s come back on again and finished the cinebench

Go to the motherboard website and download and install all the drivers for it. .

I’m on new account as been limited to 15 posts on previous one.

How do I go about doing a memtest and I’ll install all drivers for motherboard now, how do I update my bios as well?

just re run the test with the new power plan... the go to your tube and look for Curve optimizer setting for (your CPU)

From what i can see on line your score is not to bad.

Source

The people getting higher scores have PBO and Curve optimizer set with a slight overclock.

What is your motherboard brand and model?
