Hi chaps hoping to get some advice on this problem I have started getting.
Basically the screen just freezes and it only happens every 2 weeks on average. Although I dont really know. Just say last 3/4 weeks ita happened about 5/6 times.
I have a asus maximus extreme mainboard; bios 1007 - tuniq tower - quad core 6600 - nvidia 9800 gtx - 2x raptor raid 0 OS - 2 x samsung spinpoints mirror. 1000 w ocz power supply. DDR3 1333 memory ( which only runs at 1066 at the mo with CPU etc) and built in sound with Max Ext. Antec 900.
What happens is that thing where you are moving your mouse to click something and the it just stops dead in its tracks. Keyboard wont repsond, mouse wont respond if you press num lock the light just stays on and all you can do is power off the machine or reset. if I reset the box you can hear the PC "shut down" then starts back up with overclock failed, press F2 or Load defaults etc.?????
Now I did actually have it set on the CPU LEVEL UP setting but I am sure I have this on default auto aswell.
I ran mem test all night for 10 hours and no errors and also the power should be good enough. I think maybe the board has had enough of CPU level up and started being unstable.
But has anyone had this themselves and found what it is.
Sorry to have to post but when there is no record of the fault in any dumps or event logs I need to put the feelers out.
I suspect its either MB issue or this CPU level up.
Not actually finding this board that good to be honest.
If you thing the MB is toast I rather get a different make than another of the same. What would be a good board for that gear? Im sure I spent far too much on that board???
