Is it just me ?

But seriously, I wouldn’t have a problem talking to them if they said they played on a console.

Fair enough, glad we see both sides and I will go as far as to agree the immense ammount of money from consoles (More than music or films generate.) helps. Though there is always that flipside of hardware limitations, stifling advancement in the genre. Which seems to be more the case over the last few years especially.
Basically we PC gamers, with the tech; know the lower teched consoles are holding us back.

I agree and disagree with this, as there are points for each argument.

I can pop in Oblivion or Bioshock and be annoyed that the developer has decided not to optimise the game for the PC (unlike Mass Effect say.)

On the other hand, consoles make games accessable to people with less money, which in turn, generates more money for the industry. I would never have gotten into gaming had it not been for the Megadrive.

I have had similar conversations, but it no ways looking down on the person who plays the console version of the game I talked about.

More the fact the conversation ended when modding/maps etc was attempted at being inserted into the conversation, he didn't understand and I was like, well.. ahh... *talks more about console/pc games*.

I see consoles as there to pick up and play games. If you are just interested in games you get a console that you dont need to do anything with (or dont have room for a PC).

If you are into the hardware behind it and like to 'play' with the hardware and have a say over what goes into it to cater to your own needs, you have PCs.

Console are seen as sololy for gaming hence why I think some people start the whole 'you want to game, get a console'. Tunnel vision I believe...

Some people just arnt interested in installing and optimizing and overclocking. They just want the games.

For my personal use, I have a PC and Wii and PS3 simply because some games I like are available for one and not the other.

I tried playing an RPG on my PS3 but I didnt like the way it controlled. I found the thumb joystick to sensative and found it hard and time consuming to go through menus. I much prefer the mouse thats more accurate.

I risk getting shot here but.. i think consoles have a air of 'i just wanna play' they dont appreciate the whole story, just the end result.

For those of us who take just as much time, pleasure and money in our PCs learning about the components, upgrading, getting the best out of them we can as well as the games we play, its like they are missing out on it all and we cant understand it.

The same goes with people who prefer consoles, why mess around with expensive equipment that will just need more money spending on it later when you can just buy a console and be done with it :p

I would just like to point out I was perhaps being a touch tongue-in-cheek. Certainly wasn't out to cause any real offense, so my apologies to the OP - and to the person who decided to be insulted on the OP's behalf :D

I am a PC gamer and while I think most console gamers should be shining my shoes I certainly wouldn't let that get in the way of a good conversation. ;)

After all, how can you show them the error of their ways if you deprive them of our divine wisdom?

I enjoy the occasional platformer or racing game on a console - but I mean when talking about for example Call of Duty or Battlefield

Strangely I'm perfectly happy playing COD on my 360 but I find the concept of playing any Battlefield games on consoles abhorrent.

Explain that!

No offence taken. :D

I know many people who own consoles, and they are very good people. They cut my grass , take out the rubbish, wash my cars, where would I be without them. :p

I think piracy on the PC is also largely to blame, who wants to invest millions into developing a game when they know it will be pirated by a lot of people, this makes return of investment a gamble.

Well isn't there piracy consoles as well?

The only reason I would get a console is to play Guitar Hero on a "guitar". I'm sick of THIS

But no, I never lose interest talking about games, except when it's about CoD... :D

If you can't talk to another human being about games just because he's chosen a different platform to you then...well you are a very sad case.

I've met a lot of people who look down on console gamers, I personally always prefer PC gaming and haven't touched a console in atleast 6 or 7 years but to each it's own right. I mean, besides better graphics, fps and a few changes to the way the game runs, the games are usually the same so I don't mind talking about Call of Duty with someone who plays consoles cuz we can relate.

Ofcourse we could probably not talk about computer hardware the way I'd talk to some of my other friends and there are less games that we'd be likely to play since consoles focus on more genres then the PC.

It depends, if you play MW2 then I don't really see much of a difference in a pc or xbox, if you play games like starcraft, wow, Battlefield, supreme commander, etc, then you might be a bit out of touch with your console buddies.

Hmm, not sure whether I'd stop talking to him, but I would have tried to educate him if I hadn't.

Console gaming is good. PC gaming is good. Can't the world just leave it at that? They both have benefits and they both have drawbacks.
