Check these figures?

Download Speed: 347 kbps (43.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 301 kbps (37.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

thats on a 8mb line! only happened of lately.

allready have, i'll get the usuall email back about deleting cookies n stuff. Im on there unlimited usage option but i use a fair bit lets say, i bet its to do with that.

I'm on the same option, and my speed is all over the place. During peak times like now it's generally less than 1mb/s :( Where as at early morning it's right up to about 6mb/s.

Naffa on these forums also has the same option, and he's getting 186kb/s down speed

I get the same problem as someone else in that link above ^ ^

None of my torrents EVER go above 30kb/s anymore. Even though all the ports are forwarded/open and theres thousands of seeds for the file :o

you want to get into newsreaders and newsservers!

at least im not alone with the speeds! lets all jump ship to virgin for a tenner!

I am having exactly the same problems.
Could someone please post BT's support email address? Phoning up is too expensive and I can't always understand the accent of the guy on the other end of the line.

They will phone me back to get to the bottom of the 'problem'. Its not hard BT, just stop restricting bandwidth!

Im getting the same problem, thought I was the only one.
Downloading a file the other day it went to 20kb/s, yesturday was around 200 - 400 kb/s.

Isp,s take the biscut tbh i pay £30 for my conection and yet im limited to what i can do with it

Try switching to llu or cable, or you can use vpn to bypass the shaping iirc. Or buy some sort of cheap business connection where there is guaranteed no shaping.

Orange went all over the place like that when the line went over to LLU. No idea what the problem was but my old 1Mb line was faster so I've swapped over to Virgin for a tenner. Talk about pain in the rear trying to get them to disconnect it though

I've been getting a general sense of annoyance among most med-heavy net users at the moment.
My Pipex has got worse since I went from 2mb to 8mb, game/ventrillo disconnection, slow web page loading.
Read somewhere how the overall BT network is having a bit of trouble with the rate of broadband take-up

I can get that download speed on my 2mb line, but normally only 240kbps.
