the first time i got a 1gb stick it cost £45 and run at 998MB lol

Today OcUK are selling 6gb of ddr3 for £29.99 yer it 1333Mhz but it's 6gb for £29.99, i cant wait for the days of ddr4 when there giving you cash to take it of there hands :p

This is going to turn into a ******* contest pretty quickly..

I'll see your £140 and raise you £80 for 4Mb (yes Megabytes!). None of your new fangled DIMM malarky either, they were proper 30pin SIMMs!

Who else remembers paying a fortune to get half a meg. Yes that rights half a meg to upgrade the system to a full 1 meg of ram. Cost a fair bit as well. That was my first ram upgrade. The 2nd upgrade put me to a full 4 meg.

Amstrad 64K to 128K . . . .

Expensive, and you had to load it into memory. It was only used on 2 programs, one of them was a text to voice thing which never ever worked properly!

I remember having a 1mb expansion for my Amiga 500? I was only young but from what I recall the aerial cable plugged into the expansion, so maybe it was an expansion of the vga memory? *shrugs.

first computer i remember owning was from a cash and carry, it was £1800 for 1MB ram, 500mb hard drive or something and a 12" crt :p

RAM prices can be quite volatile.

DDR3 is probably half the price now that it was a few months ago.

Depending on the market it could be double the price in a few months time.

Back in the late 90's they used to have an annual "fire at one of the memory factories in Japan" whenever the price of RAM dropped too much.

yup i got it and have one stick of it happily sitting at around 1530 mhz at 9,9,9,24 1.6v with my original geil 1600mhz stick i had :)

i bought the tri channel kit as i already had a geil dual channel 1600mhz kit which one stick had went bad (which i bought second hand and can't be bothered rma'ing to taiwan) so this was a cheap way of getting another stick of ram to go with the one that worked and having another 4 gb spare :)

ooops its 9,9,9,28 not 24 i have it running at :o

it is great value, you could even consider it buy 2 get one free if your only going to run it in dual channel machines :D

(am showing my age here)

Anyone remember the Diamond VIPER video card with 2mb ram, a real flyer at the time, nothing could beat it, you could 'upgrade' it to 4mb with 2 'large' memory chips, something over £400 + at the time (a bloody fortune), you just had to have it !!!!!!

I remember having to save for ages as a kid to buy a Zoom 28.8k modem for nearly £300 back in the early 90s. Ahhh the memories of washing cars, cutting the grass etc for people to scrounge every penny.
