Is it my Mobo reporting duff sizes for SATA disks?

Howdy,

I am trying to do a fresh install on my new Mobo: Asus P5b-Deluxe. The disk is a SATAII 250GB Hitachi. When seting up Windows, I can only format 131GB? Whats up with that?

BIOS reports 250GB, but setup only sees 131GB

I have loaded my SATA drivers at setup (f6)

You need SP2 installed i think to see more than 130Gb. Mite be wrong tho

But this is at windows setup. I can only create a partition of 131GB on a 250GB drive?

Think your right.

Best to format in windows; then setup.

Ok,

I googled a bit and it seems that SP1 XP setups can't access more than 133GB. So I will format on this section and see if I can create another when XP installs.

Yeah if you do that you can use partition magic to either create an new partition ( which is what id do ) and have you personal stuff on a seperate partition so you dont lose it if you reformat the windows drive. Or you could just make the partition bigger
