I have a coolermaster elite case.

Just lately when i press the on switch, my computer switches on then turns off after a couple of seconds, it then comes back on after another couple of seconds and is then fine. i can use it no probs.

When i shut it down and then decide to switch it back on again the same thing happens, on, off and back on again.

Is it a dodgy switch or is it something else?? Also is it damaging to my pc??

Thanks

Tom

Its more than likely a well known BIOS issue, which is nothing to worry about, but its hard to say without knowing your full spec. Are you having any other issues?

If you want to check the button, take the cables off the button, short them together for a split second, then take them off. If it is normal, its the switch, if it still has the fault, It'll probably be a bios issue as mattyfez said.

Or use a screw driver to bridge the PWR jumpers on the board. Sounds like a power test feature.

Thanks for the responses.

My spec is
Asus P5QC Mobo
E8500 CPU @ 4GHz
4GB Corsair XMS2 1066MHz

I recently upgraded my BIOS but the problem was present before that so nothing has been affected there. I did have a look through the BIOS in case some unusual power settings had been enabled, but i cant imagine that anything would have this effect unless it was an error.

ill have a play with the switch if i can get into it.

If it is the BIOS, does anyone have any suggestions. This problem didnt occur when i first overclocked my machine, only recently.
