Is it necessary to install KB929777 before using 4GB RAM?

I've heard Vista can cause some problems that are apparently fixed by this patch.

I've installed vista with 4gb and 8gb of ram, never had any issues...

Just realised its included in SP1 so no one needs to worry about it anymore.

yes download and fix the patch for support over 4GB or more - you need use 1GB or 2GB first then download this patch then install extra RAM then there u go... my PC now 8GB (OCZ DDR2-800mhz from OCUK)... pretty good run and quite cheap to grab.

I still couldn't install Vista with under 4GB of Ram - with or without that patch ... My sticks were 2GB each and it just wouldn't install ... But SP1 did the trick ...

I have had to install it when using 4x1 Corsair Dominators PC28500 and 4x1 Tracers PC28500, however my brother doesn't need to for 4x1 OCZ Platinum PC26400.
