Hi guys,

Is it normal to have the coolant in a XSPC D5 Photon 270 Reservoir/Pump Combo not moving around ?

The loop looks fine and the temps are superb now but the coolant in my 270 res seems to be very still and unmoving. Is this how it appears to everyone else with this setup ?

Cheers all.

What setting is the D5 on?
It's possible if your res is quite full and you're using the fittings near the bottom that you won't notice the flow much without bubbles or something.

Thanks Kaku,

I set it just below the highest setting and yes, I used the bottom fittings for in and output and I have it filled up to about 2 inches off the top.

There's no movement whatsoever up there but the flow indicators, which are positioned at the beginning of the loop and at the end, are both showing a decent flow. The system is super cool but that stagnant area is a little concerning.

Is there another option for input on this res/pump combo, can that top fill port be used ?

You can use the top port, but there really is no need. The coolant is flowing, but due to the in and out take being at the bottom it's not disturbing the fluid at the top in a visible way.

Don't worry about it, you would know if it wasn't flowing.

Thanks davido that's reassuring to know for certain, my other res/pump combo coolant was so turbulent but that was a short res.

yup its normal. the liquid in mine seems to be static but the flow is good. I bet if you were using aurora you would see it move.

This.

Cant see the flow in mine either, but works great. Worry not.

Cool, I've not had a single heat issue since I fitted it so I have to agree, it must be doing something right. Max temp I've had so far with all three cards working well is 35°c

You can use the top port, but you need to make sure you have a feeder tube so the incoming liquid is introduced below the coolant level in the reservoir. To be honest, like davido labido said it won't really make a difference. If you're happy with the tubing layout currently I'd leave it.

Thanks Kaku, it sounds like that would be a real pain of a job to do and not worth the effort or extra expense, particularly where I've got my res set up. Cheers for the info ;)
