Is it normal for windows 10 to be running faster than 7? I have just upgraded and it's running faste

This is not normal. I'd go back to 7 
Probably just a case of a fresh install. when you install 7 it's as nippy as any other OS, then the more garbage/software that's added to the start-up sequence can make things more sluggish. Chances are if you went back to 7 or 8 it would be just as snappy.

It isn't normal, sounds like Windows 10 is overclocking your cpu too far.
Switch if off, pull the cpu out and lick it furiously until all the overclock particles have evaporated. Then install it in a NES and never even look at a piece of framed glass lest your head explodes in a bout of ungodly punishment.
