Is it ok to mix different DDR4 speeds?

Hi All,

My ROG Maximus VIII Hero mobo has 2 x 4GB of Corsair Veangeance DDR 2400 LPX memory and I want to take this up to 16GB in total. Is it okay to buy another pair of 4GB DDR4 modules say at 3000 rather than 2400?

You can but they will only run at the lower speeds unless your originals overclock to that.
Then there is the memory timings.

Runs at 3000MHz RAM Speed, CAS 15-17-17-35 Timings.

Generally lower timings are better.

It's Corsair Veangeance LPX CMK8GX4M2A2400C16 - 2 x 4GB Modules

3000mhz will work fine but why not just get more of the same speed, unfortunately ocuk don't have in stock which I'm guessing is why your asking about 3000mhz memory but plenty of other places have the same memory you have in stock

If you need to ask the question, don't mix overclocked memory kits
