Is it ok to run Radeon x800 without a fan?

When I was taking the fan and heatsink off my x800 I accidentally snipped the yellow wire where it goes into the connection bit. Then it turns out that my replacement fan/heatsink (Actic Cooling thing) doesn't fit my x800 GTO.

So I'm left with the old heatsink, but with no fan for it.

Would it be ok to run it without a fan in 2D only till I get a replacement?

Or does anyone know how to connect the yellow fan wire back into the connection?

The yellow wire on a fan is typically the speed sensor, so it should work (though maybe at 100% all the time) ok.

Jokester

The temp on my x800 flies up without the fan to 60+ idle so it probably wouldn't be a good idea to run it without one!

I wouldn't, I had a x800GT with a aftermarket cooler, I changed back to the original it came with, hooked up the fan, pluged it in, turn on the PC and thought, hmmm, thats quiet, loaded up ATITool and bam, my tempts in 2D were about 90c, I quickly turned it off and put the old cooler on it and hoped for the best.

Well, actually, the mate I sold it too hope for the best :p .

Long story short it broke within the next few days of using it.
