Is it pointless starting WoW now?

Haha this seems to have sparked quite the WoW discussion. I think I'm bored of my hunter already at level 16..... I plan to start a more interesting class. Shaman? Druid? Warlock maybe?

WoW hit 11.5 million active subscribers in 2008 and at the rate it was rising 15 million is probably accurate today due to the new Korean servers/etc.

How exactly do new items/weapons with new models and textures dropping in new raid dungeons from new bosses constitute the same stuff recoloured?

The best thing about wow is that its always evolving, something new gets added every major patch which keeps it pretty fresh, and if you compare the WoW subscription cost to buying other games to play all month/year its actually a lot cheaper than single player games that would entertain you for the same amount of hours

I did, it's not worth it because the game is rubbish now. If you've never played it before, sure, you can get to max lvl, visit few dungeons and then quit because anything above that is pointles. I would consider that as a waste of time so save yourself the trouble and pick different game or just do about anything else in life, go learn a language, go play some sports, go out BUT don't waste your time on this neverending grindfest.

Yeah stop cruising dumb forums about bits of metal and wires that make shiny reflections on some screen somewhere, you could be using this time to get out and build a bridge for orphans or teach animal husbandry to starving north koreans! Priorities people, priorities!

After reading through this thread, I've been tempted back to the darkside. Haven't played for a year and half, got rid of my account, so will be nice to start from fresh and try and max out before the new expansion comes out.
