Hhmmz thought as much! too good to be true with the other system.

Any rough estimates or just over budget?

Second hand figures:

Case: 50inc

PSU: 40inc

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Processor: 100inc

Genuine Windows Vista (R) Home Premium (would like but have xp here)

3GB Memory:30inc

640GB Hard Drive ( or less ): 30inc

Multi-Format Dual Layer DVD Re-Writer

Graphics Card ( after a semi decent one that can play games like settlers etc): 75inc

325 there with no dvd or os.

I take it you need a motherboard for that as well, its not on your list. Changing the Q6600 to a Q8200 to make it £20 cheaper the nearest i can get is £398.69 for

Samsung TS-H653B 20X Black SATA DVDRW Dual Layer Bare Drive - OEM
Coolermaster Black Elite 330 Case With eXtreme Power 460W PSU with Side Window
Western Digital WD3200AAKS 320GB SATAII 16MB Cache 7200 RPM - OEM
Crucial 4GB Kit (2x2GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 Memory
Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 2.33GHz Socket 775 1333FSB 4MB Cache Retail Boxed Processor
Asus P5KPL-AM iG31 Socket 775 onboard VGA 8 channel audio mATX Motherboard
Sapphire HD 4670 512MB GDDR3 VGA DVI HDMI HDCP PCI-E Graphics Card

If its for gaming im sure many people on here will advise going for the E8400, it will save you a couple of quid which you could maybe spend on slightly better RAM or motherboard.

p.s thats not from OCUK, didnt bother as i couldnt find a decent case/psu combo for the sort of price that one is.

Yeah sorry i needed a mobo also, the computer wont be that gaming independent as it wont be needed to run games like farcry 2 etc , Lowest game would be settlers games - strat etc.

Can't believe that there was a quad sys going for £300 tho :E

lol this is realy ambitious price range xD surely it would more realistic to go for dual core on such a low budget..
even on unreliable vendors that sell cheap and often damaged items dont sell that cheap, your best bet is scale down what youre after... or be ready to splash out more at overclockers for better quality equipment then you would get in a lot of other places.

personally, i would be supprised if you would get a half decent budget prebuilt system for £300, which i would'nt entertain buying, i've never liked, nor bought, pre-made systems. For a system like that you would probably need a minimum of £500, windows Vista alone comes to around £90 if i remember right, and i'd stick with XP for the time being tbh.

no idea but for £300 you would'nt get much at all, not even a half decent AMD unit since the processors, for a fast enough dual core, will run up at around £90 start price. You want my advice, buy a ps3.

To get what you asked for i could only get it at around £370 with some new & 2nd hand parts.

For you what you want the system for you could try this but im sure some one on here will says its not that good. im not that good yet at putting specs together in a tight budget it
