I have a question or two and thought the hive mind of OC might assist. I have an Acer predator Helios 300 (12700h, 3070ti,32gb ram etc) laptop and use it for Warzone/Warzone 2.0, while its great at what it does, I wouldn't mind tinkering with mining also and dont really want to subject it to 24 hour abuse so I was thinking about building a tower that could run these games then mine on the down time. This is not a profit driven idea as I know mining is on decline on the whole but have an itch that needs scratched and none of my other older pcs/laptops would be worth using at all.
To do this I was thinking liquid cooling etc so Im wondering if its even possible. I guess priority is Graphics and Power stability then CPU to help in games? Ideally Id like to use new parts though a GPU might be cheaper on the used market?

It's also not much of an itch really, you install a program and click run. Yes, you can tinker etc to get the most out of it. But realistically all your doing is wasting money, it's cheaper to buy than it is to mine.

Probably doesn't answer your question though.

Mining isn't worth it currently even with solar, you're better off buying the coin than mining it, solar export will pay better than mining will.

I would not spend £1K to tinker with mining personally. Also doesn't really answer the question I realise :)

You can build a mining rig for 1K. I don't know much about mining anymore after the eth change, but it used to be that:
- You chose a GPU based on how efficient it could run when undervolted/underclocked and you needed enough VRAM for the coin and decent memory bandwidth and cooling, since most algorithms are more memory than GPU intensive.
- The CPU and RAM were unimportant (except for when the CPU was used to mine, which was rare), a lot of mining rigs used low-end Celerons/Pentiums with 4 or 8 GB sticks of DDR4.

I don't know if you're better off with Ada or RDNA 2 / RNDA 3.

I think a 12100 is still enough to play Warzone.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,008.88 (includes delivery: £11.98)

It is to game on also so its not as if its a total fools errand but will take that on board.
